And I have not had much of a break yet. Actually, what am I even talking about, there is going to be no break for this teacher this summer. I think I would be bored out of my mind though if I just sat around doing nothing. Maybe I will change my mind though and decide to be not quite so busy next summer. :)
I spent my first Monday of my summer at a workshop at our region service center. I was asked by my principal to be a part of our first PLC. The workshop we went to was really great and I am excited to be a part of this journey that my campus is taking. It is a little awkward since I just finished my first year of teaching, but I think it is also great that my principal asked teachers with varying years of experience to be a part of it. I know it is going to be tough, but I really think that this is a step in the right direction for my campus and our students.
Tomorrow evening I will also be posting the winner of my book giveaway in honor of the upcoming book study that several upper elementary teachers are getting together for. It will be starting July 1st so stay tuned for more info about it.
Saturday I start my final semester of grad school. I cannot believe that in 4 long Saturdays, 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m., I will be finished and can officially add M.Ed. to my title! It has been tough doing this during my first year of teaching, but I know that in 10 years I will be so grateful that I did.
I am also super excited about two word wall packs that I am working on right now. One is filled with academic language words that our kids need to be familiar with for testing, and the other is a 5th/6th grade combo ELA word wall pack. Hopefully I will get them both finished by the end of the month.
If you are already on summer break, I hope you are enjoying it. If you are still in school, hang in there because summer is going to be here before you know it!
