I love this thing! I am storing picture books that I will use to teach concepts here and also teacher editions of books. Students will turn in their work on top in their correct tub.

We just had these installed. We will have voicemail!!!

Luckily the Interactive Board has since been mounted to the wall!

Friday It Begins!

It is so hard to believe that I really begin my first year as a teacher on Friday! Well that is at least when inservice starts for new teachers. My room is finally beginning to look like a classroom after being at camp the past 6 weeks. I took my camera up to the school with me on Sunday, but of course it was dead when I turned it on. Tomorrow we have Tadpole Camp for the incoming 6th graders to get acquainted with their new school. All day Wednesday and Thursday are going to be spent putting my finishing touches on my classroom. I cannot wait to share the pictures with you all!

Enjoy what is left of your summer vacation!

Back To School

I cannot believe that the summer is coming to an end and the school year is quickly approaching. For me the year is going to get underway starting on August 9th when we have Tadpole Camp for the incoming 6th graders. Of course my classroom is no where near ready at this moment and I am not really sure when I am going to have time to do that before the 9th.

Believe it or not, I have managed to at least get the first week of school planned already. I am getting pretty excited about it and am looking forward to doing some new things with my students that they have hopefully not done before in the past. I will be sharing my lesson plan template with you all in the next couple of weeks, more than likely once I am home from camp.

I have gotten a great response from so many of you all about being pen pals and cannot wait to get it started! I know that my kids are going to have so much fun with it and I am excited to have them write letters since it is something that is forgotten about too often with this generation of kids. I am currently attempting to create some postcards on Vistaprint for my kids to use that are personalized for our class. What sort of things have you all created on Vistaprint for your classroom?
I am also currently obsessed with these crate seats that I found on this blog. Even though I teach 6th grade, I still think my students will love them in the library area where all of the books are housed.

Pictures of the classroom will be coming soon!

Letter Exchange

This coming school year I am going to have 3 Language Arts classes. One of those classes is going to be an inclusion class. I have always dreamed of doing a postcard exchange, and I am thinking this will be a great activity for this class. I am thinking a 4th, 5th, or 6th grade class would work best for this.

If you would be interested or know someone who is, leave a comment or you can email me too at k.e.klohn@gmail.com

Classroom WIshlist

Today I am linking up with
to share my classroom wishlist.

A Flip video camera. I know my kids would love it and I think it would be a creative way for them to share their information.
I love laminating and my own laminator would make life so much easier.
A dual board. Oh wait, the wish is already granted. I will have one this fall!!!
I love storage and this could be used for so much.
Netbooks for research and other projects. I am thinking about doing a donors choose project for this.

I Love Summer Vacation!

It is officially my 2nd week of summer vacation and I finally got to sleep in today! By sleeping in I mean 7:30am.

Summer vacation so far has consisted of Cheer Camp for 3 days, 30 hour GT institute, and planning for the next school year. I would love to have my entire 1st 6 weeks planned for the fall, but the likelihood of that happening is going to be pretty slim I think once I get to camp. I will be happy if I can just be a few weeks ahead.

Over the past couple of years, I have been collecting lots of things that were more geared towards the elementary classroom. I am thinking about doing a blog sale of some teaching things. What do you all think about that? Would you be interested in some of the resources I have?
